More about Ngārua marble
Ngārua marble is created by the forces of nature of millions of years. The high grade marble occurs in the remarkable karst landscape of Tākaka Hill. Karst is often associated with soluble rock types such as limestone and marble.
The colour range of Ngārua marble is striking, ranging from crisp white to golds and greys. Ngārua marble has been the preferred choice for many iconic New Zealand buildings.
Our high grade marble is often the preferred source of marble for construction projects around Aotearoa New Zealand. Our industrial stone contains no silica. This makes it a safer option for uses such as bathroom vanity units and benchtops.
- The Aotea Centre in Auckland was made out of Ngārua marble chip
- Northlands Mall in Christchurch had Ngārua chip in the floor
- Chip from Ngārua was used for the outside panels at Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa
The sparkling flecks in our high grade marble continue to make it highly attractive for large-scale construction projects such as the white tiles for the Britomart station in Auckland.
